"Portrait of..."
The artistic dance research project "Portrait of..." delves into cultural identity through the lens of bodily expression, collecting individual movement stories to uncover shared values that transcend cultural boundaries. This initiative engages volunteers from diverse backgrounds in face-to-face interviews, exploring the unique cultural imprints conveyed through movement.
"Portrait of..." creates a dialogue between cultural heritage and identity, perceiving the body as a universal experience and dance as a common language that unites us all. A key part of the methodology involves crafting personalized "movement signatures" with participants, reflecting their authentic expressions.
To date, the project has gathered 50 portraits/movements in Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Latvia. These include individuals from 21 nationalities, ranging in age from 7 to 89 years.
